I thought it was actually something like 1.52. It is just easier to say it is 1.55. I could be wrong, as I haven't worried about things like that for 15 yrs!

It's rated at 1.55:1.

In real life it depends on pushrod length, shaft height and cam lift to compute the actual ratio.
