Hey,
I am on the fence about this, my time is in my sig along with my upgrades but was wondering if going to a stretch unit would help me get into the mid-low 11's easier?? Would there be a big improvement from going from a Dutt Neck stocker to a stretched unit?

Im sure a stretched would give you much better results. Giving its much longer and you can grab more air coming in.. I could be wrong but im sure others will chime in.

The Dut neck increases air flow capability over stock by 20%. The stretch probably has the large piping (increased flow over stock), PLUS the additional cooling for the intake charge. That means more boost before detonation. Its a trade-off you'll have to decide for your own goals and pocket book. :)

I'm sure there are people here who could quantify the performance difference and you can look at the expense of each and make your choice. :)

Yup....Im just debating if it's worth dropping $400-$500 for a stretched IC...:) ...If the Dutt Neck can get me low 11's easy then it's not worth it. I am sure I wont feel any " Seat of the Pants" diff if I decide to get one....;)

Yea I would def get a nice used one....Although the 23 row one that Gn1 Performance sells looks real tempting.......

All GNs react differently. Please don't take this one GN to be like all others.

Time slips on a 12 second GN were identical for the Dutt neck & the stocker.

.4 second gain with stretch over stock.

Many mods later the GN was an 11.5 second car.

I got the stuff to take me well into the mid/low 11's but it's KILLIN me to know if the Dutt NEck is holding me back? I think the alky is really helping me out though.........I would hate to put on a Stretch IC and see little to no results Vs. my Dutt Neck!

Seems funny, a guy with a slower car giving a guy with a faster car advice but our engine set-up is pretty similar. My driveline is stock from the converter back though. My best 60' ft is a crappy 2.10 with 17" street tires. With out alky and on such a soft leave I run 12.90's with a trap of 109 + on 19 lbs. With the alky I run 24 lbs on the street (haven't been to the track yet) and the car is much stronger. Point is, I think you are probably leaving some power on the table with your current combo. Dial up the boost some and I think you'll pick up some mph and the way your car is hooking your et's should drop. With the alky I think you've got more left in your car the way it sits. I don't think your Dutt neck is holding you back yet.

A buddy of mine ran a 11.35 on a TE-44 and ported stock IC, with NO Dutt neck. Pump gas and alchy. I have a ported IC on my car and it works great. For the $200 to do the Dutt neck when its all said and done, thats $200 that could go towards a stretch IC.

Even with a Dutt neck, its still a stock 10-row IC from 20 years ago. Just my opinion on things.

Awesome.....I will just keep my current intercooler and call it a day. Like I said...I think the alky is what makes the Stock intercooler appear big....

Is it ported? A little time with a die grinder can be worth it! Mine is ported on the inlet and outlet.

When I got the Dutt Neck I ported it a bunch and then had it welded on....so its like 2 3/4 inlet........
