So I finnally got to race my gn at the strip yesterday and everything seemed to go real smooth.I made about 6 passes and no matter what It finished at 110mph.My slowest pass was 12.70 at 110 w/2.10 60ft and fastest was 12.16 at 110 w/1.76 60ft.On the powerlogger it looked like it was outta gear.It went through the traps at like 5250 rpm running it in drive, and so i ran it in overdrive and still went 110?
Am I missing something here?I know Im a newbie but just seemed like it needed to shift again,6 passes at exactly 110 was really odd.

You are about on target with that et for that mph. Plenty of things can affect mph. Initially, and without knowing anything about your combo, I would ask about your valvesprings. If they are past their prime, you will find that the motor will lay down as it revs past 4500 or so. Generally, the car will pick up od around 4800 or so if left to it's own devices, and torque its way through the lights in od. Between the extra shift and the taller final drive, it will be harder to see more mph in od than just buzzing it through in third gear, engine willing. Additionally, how about your tires? Are you running a stockish 26 inch tall tire, or something taller. If you are out of motor with 26 inchers, it may go a little faster with 27 or 28 inch tall tires. Again, that is assuming that the engine is willing and able with your combo. Thanks, Rudy.

I don't think you are missing anything. Speed is a function of horsepower. Your speed isn't changing or increasing because your horsepower isn't changing or increasing. Time is more of a function of traction, getting a good launch (60ft times), ect.

What kind of goodies do you have on it?

For a car with a stock cam, 5300RPM is about it. Rudy is right, it will go a bit higher with new valve springs but I don't know how much more.

Use the TCI website calculator and see where your torque converter slip percent is. That'll give you an idea of how much you have on the table there.

But you got a few options that are common..
bigger tires
hotter cam / better springs
better torque converter (maybe a multi disc lockup)

My wife's car traps 111 at ~5200 with 28" tires and a stock D5 torque converter. Converter slip is 15%. It's also out of steam and it don't wanna go much faster. Locking the torque converter will push it to 113, but the clutch still slips 7%, so I don't bother.

Now you have me wondering why mine traps so slow, runs 11.7 with a 1.5 60 ft and traps 112.That tci site doesnt seem to work for me,i came up with 2.8 slip.Seems alittle low doesnt it.But my car does spool slow at the lights.

Lock the converter?

Running a 255 60 15 which i believe is 27in
I am still running the stock valve springs at 25lbs boost with the alky,so your saying it should pull harder with like the comp 980's?
I ran against a full race mustang who was running 11.80 and had him beat really good till about the last 1/4 portion of the track and than its like I stopped excellerating anymore and he passed me?
also, should i switch up spark plugs? running a cr43ts gapped at .026.Most the forums seem to favor a cr42ts at those speeds.
It was like 85 degrees out too and the car was at 195 degrees at the line.

First.. race the car when its 150-155 at the line. Crossing the traps at 170. At 195 its dead in the water.

The 43's are fine.. I gap mine to .030-.032

Lock the converter at the line.

Look at your 1/8 MPH and your 1/4 MPH. See if both are the same. At your power level expect 20-22 on the back end as normal. meaning 88-90 MPH in the 1/8. Great weather, expect a 24-25 /8-1/4 pickup.

make sure your airfilter is not clogged... dont ask on this.. been there

real dumb question, but how do I lock the converter? Can I program it at the line with my TT chip?

Contact Eric for that.

Manually all you do is short the upper left and upper right terminal on the aldl.

My car is right with you. I do have a vig multi disk but I'm not locking it because I hear its real hard on the tranny. Last time out it would only go 111mph. Two best runs were 12.00. My valve springs are new too. I was running 25 lbs. The car has a stock motor and a cpt 61 bb. If I were to put a non lock up in it should it pick up any? Just looking for any tips.

So are you saying its normal to trap at 111-112 for a 11.7 to a 12.5 with a TB?By your quote i would say im right on the #s with the above statement,I just figured the quicker you go the better the mph would be.Most non TB around that run in the 11.7 range are running 125 mph.

when you mess around with fueling to look for a better mph are you adding or subtracting like 2-5% or like 10%? o2's were reading between 10.7 and 11.2 just bouncing around slightly.

Go into your User CP and add your full combo in your signature, gonna be tough to help you without knowing the basics about your car first.
If you are running a stock turbo, your mph is good.

Now that we have your combo, I would say there is another 5mph in it. Try locking your converter at the line as suggested, and see what happens to your mph. I am going to bet you gain about 2mph. Any takers? :)

So......i need to....lol
lock the converter
switch to 980 valve spring
and let the car cool to 155 deg and I should be golden??
Sounds awesome.
I need to get a line lock too. Those drag radials were a bitch to get spinning
with the hr bar

Back right to the edge of the water, but not in the water. That will allow you to spin them up pretty easily.
