superchips tuner for powerstroke question

My broter has an 01 powerstroke diesel. I have an 00 powerstroke. I tried using his tuner on my truck (they call for the same part #) but it wont even come on. Is this due to VIN lock? Is there any way around it? Any info appreciated...
