Tach Q

I purchased a tach from postons and after hooking onto the 2 wires on the green harness i get no reading. I have read some vdo tach are not set up for our cars any info would be great.

2 wires on the green harness? the "tach signal" wire goes to the green connector under the alternator...the other wires go to 12 v and ground.....

let me reword myself I hooked up the tach as per the directions A) switched 12 v B) A good ground C) the green connector with 2 white wires near the alternator.

it is possible you are a victim of the famous "5 volt square wave mod" that hasn't been done........if you bought it new, send it back to VDO and they'll fix it for nothing...write a nasty note to the vendor....or just send it back to the vendor and tell him where to wear it!
