I am currently putting the 87 GN 3.8 into my 91 firebird and I am torn between these two turbos. Here is my current engine setup

-208/208 cam
-billet center mains
-high volume front cover
-ported/polished stock heads
-port matched intake
-diamond forged pistons
-.020 bore
-thermal coated combustion chambers, piston tops and intake
-65mm tb/plenum w/ rjc powerplate
-CAS v2 fmic
-walbro 340 w/ hotwire kit
-lt1 maf w/ translator +
-Red's custom chip
And the injectors depend on what turbo i am going with. If I go with the TE-61, i will go with the 55lb and if i go with the te45-a i will go with the 72lb.

The question is, this is gonna be a street car but it will visit the strip on occasions. I would like to touch 10s with this setup and I am curious if the te45a would be needed for this or would the te61 be good enough to reach my goal? I know the TE61 is about 300 bucks cheaper and I just don't want to overkill the car for the goal I want to reach. I would get the recommended converter for whichever turbo i would get as well and my suspension is setup and i will be running 26x11.5 ET Streets. Thanks :)

Go with the TE45a, but you will need atleast 3600 stall converter.
I love the TE45a turbo that i have.
