Hello all,

My TE44 currently has the .82 housing with a 3500 no l/u converter. Will the .63 make significant difference in bottom end power? My car is a 100% street car and lower boost is desired with excellent throttle response.

Thanks alot,

Ravi

stock turbo was a .63. remember your spool up with a stock turbo and converter?

info

Sorry,

this is over my head. My car never did run right with the stock turbo. Are you saying that the .63 is desirable for good throttle response??

Thanks

oh sorry. didnt know your stock turbo was never functioning good. im far from an expert but a stock car is almost at full boost around 2500rpm. if i am not mistaken, a stock Turbo Regals torque peaks at about the same rpm. a .63 with a 3500 stall converter may be overkill.
more people should resond and give their opinions.

yes it should spool quicker with the .63 housing on it verses the .82, but with a 3500 stall you should have lightning quick spoolup with ann .82 housing as well. If you don't, then there is another problem, whether it be headers cracked, low stall, or just way to rich on the bottom end. also is your .82 housing a PTE housing or a garret?

Seriously, with the 3500 stall, that turbo should be at damn near full boost as soon as you hit the gas. Even with the larger A/R turbine housing.

If not, you have some problems. You need to get those problems fixed. The smaller A/R housing is not going to help you.
