I have a TH350 Tranny (3 spd auto) that will not kickdown when I press the go pedal if I am traveling over 50 mph. Is this the DTent cable that needs to be adjusted???? Since the carb went from a Holley to an Edlebock and the throttle linkage positioning changed to accomadate the new carb...I am thinking the kickdown cable has too much slack and needs to be tightened. Does this sound right???

It's pretty easy to check. With the engine off, off course, rotate your carburetor to WOT. Then, grab the kickdown cable end and see if you are able to pull it more than the carburetor already did.

If so, you'll need to adjust that slack out of it so that you are pulling the transmission linkage all the way up at WOT.

Thanks MeanBuick.

I already attributed this to a faulty tranny kickdown cable. Apparantly the carb linkage got loose and moved to a position of "least travel"...eventhough the cable pressure was still pretty snug. Real strange how this got loose.

The Firebird is happy!
