Folks,
What could cause a TH350 to hang on the upshift from 1st to 2nd when the tranny is cold? This does not show up until the outside temp drops below about 45 degrees. Typically, I'll fire up the car, back it out the driveway, place it in 'Drive', and on the first upshift from first to second the tranny acts like it goes into neutral. It coasts and you can rake the shift selector all the way from 'Reverse' to 'Low' and it makes no difference, neither does revving the engine. Rake it back and forth into 'Drive' a couple of times and the tranny will finally drop back into first. The colder it is the more likely it is to do this again. The longer the car has sat the more likely it is to do this.
The tranny was out of the Skylark when I got it. I had a tranny shop do a cash and carry stock rebuild with a new torque converter . I installed it myself and it works perfectly as long as it's above 45 degrees or so. I have replaced the modulator and the vacuum lines and it still has the same problem. This is my daily driver and need to do something before winter sets in.
Thanks for any input.
Brett
