I found this mushroom in my yard today, it measures 9" across and 7" tall.
The amazing thing is that it grew OVERNIGHT! It was not there when I cut the grass yesterday evening. I thought it was a volleyball at first.

giant puffball mushroom

It's a giant puffball mushroom. Yours is a medium sized one. I've seen them 12-15 inches across. They are actually edible, but I've never had them.

I've eatin one of them before. It's quite good actually, but the texture is too soft for my liking. Texture is very important to me and I don't enjoy puddings or very soft foods.
