I have 1 customer that alway is talking about his eclipse. I normally ask these guys a ton of questions, so that I can see if they even know what they are talking about. This guy actually seemed like the real deal from the content of our conversations. At this point, I had never seen the car. Yesterday, the car pulls up. Now this is supposed to be a mid 10 sec. car. The last conversation that I had with this guy was about 3 months ago, so I was a little rusty on the mods on his car. While he is inside making his payment, I go outside and check out the car. It looks bone stock to me, exept for a turbo timer, and 2 guage pods (with no guages inside) I mean, I looked at the front of the car for the big ole front mount - not there. I looked for the NOS cans in the back - not there. There was, however, a fart can. So, the guy comes out, and I make him pop the hood. What do I see... a dirty, crappy looking engine compartment with a bunch of the engine parts painted red like the outside of the car. I look a little closer, and what do I see again........the cutest little baby turbo I have ever seen! This thing was no bigger than my FIST! I said hmmmmmm.... 10sec.? with a 1.8liter? and THAT little ***** turbo?????? don't think so. "what size turbo is that man?" "its a t-22" I think that is what he said. I laughed. "but that is not the turbo I normally run!! I normally run a t-30 (or somethin like that) I'm just breakin in my new clutch, so I put the old turbo back in." I went inside to the garage and got my te63-1 out of my shop and showed it to him, holding it up close to his micro turbo. he was like
that thing is huge!!!! "I get that alot" I said, and went back inside. What a dork. that car was so far from a 10sec. car it wasn't funny. I mean, I don't know but I think that to put a 1.8 liter car into the 10's you would need at least a pt-72 or bigger? am I right?
