I was thinking of getting one of those babies. I like what the chip has to offer....w/ the anti-theft and all(me paranoid). But I noticed the website said that you need an intercooler in the setup. Do you really need an IC for it to work? If so::mad:.

....1 more thing: was just reading some more stuff about how Thrashers dont like cat. convertors. Will gutting mine be ok or do i need to get a test pipe? thanks:)

Gutting the pipe is acceptable, but you need an intercooler or you will be Ungodly rich in the fuel mixture department.

Or instead of running an intercooler, just lower the fuel pressure to about 38-39# w/vacuum line off...That's where I had set mine at...Granted, the Thrasher chips are optimized for the 86/7 IC'd cars, but will run decent with the lower fuel pressure...Do some WOT runs and see where your O2's are at and tweak the fuel pressure up or down accordingly...This will get you close to general driveability with the Thrasher chip for everyday driving...You probably won't be able to achieve the same gas mileage estimates that the 86/7 cars are getting, though, since the hotair motor and the IC motor have different fuel curves due to the IC and the slightly bigger turbo of the 86/7 motors...

thats what i was thinking about. the chips seem pretty good, but i'll look around for something more hotair friendly.

chips...yummmmm!

Try a thumb wheel chip from caspers they say its pretty good with the hot air cars. They have 8 settings to them with one of them being and anti theft after that it goes into valet mode to stock your three street settings then your race settings. It coasts around 165 I think. One other good thing about going with this chip is that if you ever upgrade your injectors or anything were the chip has to be reprogrammed they'll reprogram it for 65 bucks. Plus all you have to do to change settings is flip a switch and me I love little toys like that for my car.

chips...mmmm

the Ultrachip seems more towards what i'm looking for(since its actually made for hot airs). For the different street and race settings, do you tell Caspers what specs you want or are they automatically programmed for injector size?
