well, after about 3 years i have officially been accepted in to the club of speeding ticket (wreckless driving) club with a 87 in a 55.

me, my girlfriend, and her sister were in my camaro going to church and we got seperated from her parents who were in another car taking a another route that we did not know about.

we left the house about 10-15 mins late and i had to take the normal, longer, way to church so i had to high tail it to get there on time. to make a long story short i got busted on a long empty straight away doing 87 mph in a 55 so thats wrekless driving. what beats all is i dint even know i was going THAT fast, i just seen the cop then looked at my speedo and said something along the lines of "oh ****"

ive already been informed by a friend who is a local police officer that the area that i got pulled over in is bad for that sort of thing and hard on the people they ticket so i could possably spend up to 5 days in jail. my court date is on the eather the 3d or 5th of december i cant really remember.

that is not good at all. if your friend is the a cop ask him about the judge your supoust to have. if you think he might understand the church thing try to fight it as much as you can, if not pleed it for all you can get. good luck, oh and get a radar detector...

You're not going to jail over a speeding ticket, chill out. Get a good lawyer, and if your record is fairly clean otherwise, he can get it dropped. I had the same ticket a few years back, cost me 6 or 7 hundred dollars to have turned into a equipment (non moving) violation, well worth it when you consider what your insurance co. will do to your rates if they don't drop you first.

Fight the ticket. Always fight a ticket! I'll get yelled at for saying it, but speeding tickets are the biggest source of revenue for the police/city/county.

speeding ticket

well, its 32 mph over the speed limit so that would be feloney wreckless driving or so ive herd, we got a lawyer today from the county that i got busted in and even he said that im more then likely going to spend a few days in the county jail. whats even worse then that is now that my drivers licens has this on it im knocked out of the AYES program at my school meaning that i loose 3000 in tools and i wont be placed in to a dealership for on the job training, my whole life for the last 2 years has been counting on this and ive just kissed it good bye.

Yet another good argument against attending church.....

Whoever heard of something as stupid as getting busted for speeding on the way to church?! You did something incredibly stupid, got caught and now are whining about getting a ticket that you fully deserved. We all know that crummy chit happens, but if I was doing 90 through a school zone on my way to get together and pray with my friends, I would not waste space on this site attempting to make contact with a few people who might feel sorry for me. Maybe you could ask god to get you off the hook.

Go to Hell. Go directly to Hell. Do not pass 'Go'. Do not collect $200.

Dood, get an attorney to fix it up, and you'll be fine. Man, I got so many damn speeding tickets that my lawyer would buy my kids Christmas presents....if I had any.....What the bum should do is by me more go-fast parts. :D

DCEPTCN
the go to hell thing was a little harsh.

don't get a county appointed lawyer, thats where you go before you know what your doing, it spossible to get a great lawyer from there, but the chances are much better of having the judge struk by lightning walking into the building. if hes saying your going to jail just call another good laywer and talk to them, it might cost you a few bucks, maybe not. but if they say the guy is crazy (my oppinion) then its money well spent. then spend a few bucks ang get a good lawyer working for you. people get away with murder al the time, if you can't get by with a 32 mph speeding ticket something is wrong.

first of all, i enjoy going to church and i dont think that you have the athority or the balls to try and convence me other wise nor do i really care what you think about this subject.

see, theres a diffrence between people like me and you. im not whining about this im just enforming a few friends what happined, your the one whining about me posting. if you dont like it im sorry but i dont really care. the other diffrence that i noticed between me and you is church, for example i go to church 3 times a week and you.........aparently dont. i could verry easily tell you to F-off but im not going to for the simple fact that ever sence i got saved my life has been the best that its ever been, may i sudgest that you give God another chance in your life before you are the one that really goes to hell?

Like I said, lawyer up. Its a small cost compared to the alternatives. I've had at least 4 speeding tickets dropped without ever lifting a finger, except to dial a phone. My dad had probably 10 or so, all gone now. Like denn454 said, if you can't get out of this, something is wrong. Speeding tickets are all about revenue, and you'll still pay, so they really don't care. Hell, twice now I've bribed a judge and a cop, to make speeding tickets go away. I know the system is crooked, might as well use it to my advantage.

You should've slowed down, god would forgive you for being late, wouldn't he? :D

lawyer

is there some sort of mph cutoff for being a felony:confused: . I got 3 points on my liscence for doing 81 in a 55. With no lawyer. Like everybody said, a good lawyer can get you out of just about anything, provided you have the cash to pay for their services. Don't underestimate a good lawyer, they can all but completely manipulate the legal syste.

i got one from the county, not court appointed, i got some one local that was used to that areas laws. judgeing by the fact that hes the only buzzard that i could find in that worthless county and he knows the da on a first name basis i should do fine. im not all that worried really but my girlfriend is taking it rather hard.

you've got an excuse if i've ever heard one, open road, running late for church, not being a religious person i'd still say thats a valid reason. if the lawyer is a screwball do your own homework and help him out if you think you can. go out one sundsy (i'm assuming it was on a sunday) and count the number of cars for 10 or 15 minutes, to show the road is relitively unused, don't count the white cars;) have someone at the church vouge for you sayign that you did go to church, i know there are no jurys in small things like this, but find a way to make that known, quote them or something. i wouldnt' be too worried about going to jail unless you mouth off to the judge and maybe moon him, thats a stretch, but one way or another your pocket will be a bit lighter, sorry to say that.

May I SUDGEST you spend less time in church and more in school?

dceptcn,
Its kinda funny you sudgesting that he spend more time in school. Its spelled suggest! :D

The fact that a big ticket could hurt your future is another reason to lawyer up. Let the lawyer know what this ticket could do to your future and have him point that out to the judge. The judge can reduce the infraction and in turn slap you with a bunch of community service. That way the city wins by getting your time and you don't get screwed. Believe it or not most judges don't want to screw up a kids future.

Here's a scenario for you:
Judge:"What's you're excuse for speeding,young man?"
You:"I was late for church, your Honor."
Judge:"Be that as it may, there are speed limits that you must obey"
You:"I realize that your Honor, however I was answering to a higher authority".

Case closed.
Dismissed.:)

Seriously though, find a better lawyer than that Jacka$$ you talked to at first.
