that spring encompasses the pintle valve. You can screw out the valve all the way. Use some carburater cleaner on the pintle,the orafice it goes into and the hole in the throttle body. Screw the pintle back in tight,measure from tip of pintle to base of threaded end that goes into throttle body. Its not suppose to be greater than 11/8th inch.Push the pintle in so its less than the above mentioned distance. Then you can start adjusting the IAC and TPS for final settings.
Do you have a scan tool. That would help you greatly.
