Last weekend I installed a new torque converter built by Lonnie Diers. It's a 3000 sall Lock Up. I cant believe the difference in the way the car drives and I cant believe it took me 26 years to find this out.
I figured the high stall converters weren't really streetable and I don't race. The reason I got it was because my 1-2 shift was very hard and would chirp the tires at light and medium throttle and was very uncomfortable. I took Lonnie for a quick ride since I fgured no one knows his transmissions like he does and after half a block he said that would drive him nuts.
He said he could lower the pressure for the 1-2 shift but of course that of course can cause wear problems or I could get a higher stall converter. I'm glad I went with the converter. The shifts are quick and crisp without the harsness, the turbo spools better and it's jut made the car much more pleasurable to drive.
