I usually just put all of my change in a cookie jar when I get home. At work I had an old water bottle sitting around so I decided to bring it home and put my change in there, The wife and I are trying to figure out how much money it will take to fill it up. We decided that when it is full we will cash it in and buy her a Vette, she hates the Buick. Anyway I decided to throw all $1 bills in there also just to up the ante. Anybody have any idea how much coinage it take to fill up a Culligan 5 gallon water bottle? I thought that with the bills in there I should be able to byu her a fairly nice car in a few years.

I got a question, how do you get the money out of that? I sure as hell wouldn't want to be digging through a bunch of broken glass.

Here's what I had and it came to a little over 1100 bucks.

Well I guess it is a good idea to throw singles at it if I want to buy her a running Vette. Thanks for the picutre, now I have an idea of the coinage it will add up to. How much did it weigh?

It weighed 142 pounds and I had to empty half out it out into a 5 gallon bucket and took that bucket and the jug into Commerce banks coin counting machine and it took awile and I filled up quite a few bags, of course holding up a line behind me of little kids with their piggy banks.

Sorry kids Rich needs a new turbo..............lol.

>>>Keep laughing........that's how you're getting paid :D

Its gonna take alot of singles in there to buy a vette! Maybe you should just shoot for a vette down payment? Or just trade the GN if she hates it.

Trade the GN what are you kidding. We are not looking at a new Vette. Maybe an 86 or so model. Nothing like the new ones. She just likes a convertible or targa top. I sold her Mustang earlier this year and she points out every Vette she shes now and says that she would drive that.

are you sure your wife isn't my wife or vice versa?  the only difference is mine LOVES her gn, but she is scared to drive it because of stone chips. I hear the same thing but we are looking at a C5. they are reasonably priced, mid 20s for a low mile one.

LV GN why don't you like the vette? what are the down falls for a daily driver?

it turned out to be a rattle box. always needed something. then we install a new gm crate motor, rebuilt the trans and did all the bushing's and brakes. and then a week later lisa got hit in the back. we got enough money to get her a 2000 ss camaro convt. now that is a car thats fun to drive. the c5 and c6 vette's are the way to go,

that is why we are sort of looking at a C5. C6 is out of our price range, but a low mile C5 is about the same price as a new car on the market.

My wife and I use 2 bottles. One for Silver and the other for Pennies. The $1 bills is a good Idea. We put change in it all the time and it still hasn't even covered the bottom. It must take forever to fill one up.

Maybe a T-Top is a good compromise????

I have a T Top GN. The prob is she is scared tp drive it and hurt something. Also she thinks that it is too big. GO figure she drives a Durango all day long.

I have the same plastic jug and only put silver in it, pennies take up too much space.... I've only got it filled up to about the first ring on the jug and it has about $1500 in it, and it has taken about 3.5 years to fill it that far.....so in about 12-15 more years it will be full and have about $8-9k in it.
