Hi. Well its finally time for a new tranny..... I got good 1-2 shift and then then 2-3 flares really bad....

Its something I can rebuild and engine for one of these cars but when it comes to an automatic overdrive transmission I'll leave it to the pros... I've seen the internals of a TH200-4R and thats way too many parts for me!!!

I've been checking out some places and I know its not gonna be cheap but I want a built 200-4R that can take some abuse...

I've called Mike Kurtz (PMAC) in Texas and he said it would cost around $1700.00 to rebuild mine....I've heard good things about his work from other GSCA members but it's gonna cost a lot of money to ship my trans. from Wisconsin down to Texas... Is there someone within a few hundred miles of Southern Wi. that you guys would recommend doing the work to it????

Thanks

A lot of the Chicago guys swear by Jimmy's in Mundelien (sp). Do a search and it should pull up some info or contact #'s. That would be an option for you...

Boost, I talked to a lot of folks in the industry around our area and there were no good suggestions for a high HP 200 rebuild when I was looking a few years back. I purchase a complete from Bruce at that time.

Now a couple of years ago I got more familiar with the folks at the local MATC. The owner of the shop where I have my dyno is a part time instructor there now. One option, if you are not looking at silly levels of power would be to stop by the shop area at MATC. Their tranny instructor is VERY sharp. I think it would be a reasonble thing to investigate if he would consider rebuilding your tranny with the correct rebuild kit from one of our vendors. You buy the parts and they supply the labor. If they had any questions on the rebuild they would simply give the vendor a call. If you are interested in that option email me and I will get you his name and phone number. I'd have no problems taking my tranny into them for a refresh with the proper instructions and parts.
