Guys and gals, I have been doing a lot of research on the GN's as well as the 83-88 SS Monte Carlos, and the Hurst Olds in regards to production anomolies. Like the one I found with the shoulder belt guides on the 84 GN's, I have come across one on the Monte Carlo and that trim tags seem to be MIA from all 86's and possibly intermittent in 85 & 87. As of now I have not found this to be true on any other GM G-body in those years. I would like for everyone to take a few minutes and look at their cars to see if they have a trim tag mounted under the driver's side wiper arm on top of the cowl. It will be just below the lower molding for the windshield and should be located where the red circle is shown in the picture. I would need the following information from the particular car, especially if it is missing, which will be kept confidential:

If the tag is not present:
- vin
- build date from the decal on the end of the drivers door.
- picture of the SPI sticker on the bottom of the trunk lid.

If the tag is present:
- vin
- information from the tag itself or a good clear picture of it.
- picture of the SPI sticker on the bottome of the trunk lid.

Any and all help is appreciated and I will post my findings when I can feel confident as to whether they are definitive or not...................RatPack...............

that tag is actually the Fischer (sp) Body tag...it is on all cars...unless someone took it off...has VIN # and paint codes and body information

Actually the vin is not anywhere on the trim tag, only the body number, build date, a few options, and the exterior color and interior trim code. There may or may not be some internal plant codes on there. I know that most cars are supposed to have them, however since these Monte Carlos popped up w/o them, then I am researching whethere this is a one plant only issue, or one carline only issue. So far it is both, only the Arlington TX plant, and only in the Monte Carlo line. I have not found any Monte Carlo built at the Pontiac MI plant w/o them, nor at any of the other plants that produced G-bodies. I have looked at base Regals, Cutlass', GP's, and Monte's so I can figure out why this was or was not done. So any help is greatly appreciated, especially if any kind of Regal is found w/o a tag................RatPack...........
