my friend and i tuned my car today w/the DS and man, its a whole new animal! i love it and he says it will only get better b/c i have a 1800 stall converter and bad valve springs now. how much should a good stock D5 be? and how long should my Aamco rebuild last when the car gets running right? man, i love this car:)

I paid $125 for a very low mile, unraced D5. You can probably buy a refurbished "D5" equivalent for around $200, slightly more for a real D5.

You don't want one that has been raced, as the splines will be slightly deformed and the clutch could be used up and you'll want to that to it yourself :)

i found one just now on gnttype.org and if i get it for $50 how much would it be to get it rebuilt? who can do it for me?

I think there was someone in Florida who built good, restalled converters for less than $300. No need for a core, either. Maybe someone in florida could help out.

I have a local guy that rebuilds my D5 converters. He can change the stall also. This is all he does (converters). I do allot of business with him. He has rebuilt over a dozen modified D5 for me. I have never had a problem whith his modified D5's. I have had 1.5 60's with my D5. My cost is $100.00 per unit.

I would try to find a converter shop in the aera. They may not be listed in the phone book because they reman converters for the local transmission shops.
