Hey guys,

I just finished my 86/87 ECM and MAF conversion on my car about 30 mins ago. I contacted Eric at TurboTweak.com (Eric Stage I here on the boards) and had him burn me a chip for hotairs using the later style ECM. After installing the MAF, MAT and ECM with his chip, my car is like a whole new animal. I don;t know how much of it is due to the ECM and MAF conversion, and how much was due to his chip, but man, the car idles so much smoother, accelerates and pulls very linearly (no power highs and lows, or hiccups like before) and pulls like a freight train right up to the top end, instead of falling flat on its face like before. This is my first experience with Eric and TurboTweak, but I must say, he burns one hell of a chip. Not only does my car run sooo much better now, but he has some adjustability features built in allowing you to adjust WOT fueling and timing for fine-tuning. IF anyone is considering doing the ECM conversion soon, or allready has and is jsut running a stock 86/87 chip, I'd definitely reccomend getting a turbotweak chip. ITs the best 75 bucks I've spent on my car so far :) And thanks for all the hot-air gurus here on the board. I'm new to turbo buicks, only had mine for 5 months now, and the only reason i was able to tackle this conversion project was help from the guys here. Thanks again, and happy motoring!!

I think im also gonna go with the turbotweak for my 85 GN once i get the ecm swap done. Could you do some time comparison's? Say make 2 passes with stock chip and 2 with the turbo tweak to see how much ET and MPH may change? Would be interesting. Mines also stock for the moment but ive got a TA48 and some blue tops waiting on me to get brave. ;)

Sorry, can;t do a back to back comparo between the stock 86/87 chip and the TruboTweak chip. When I got my computer, it didn't come with a chip, and I just waited till my turbotweak one showed up to do the conversion. As far as comparing the TT chip to the stock 84 chip... I don;t know if a stock hotair chip will even work in a 86/87 ECM? Regardless, it probably didnt make a HUGE difference in ET (although I'm sure theres some) but mainly it a made a world of difference in the driveability and smoothness. No more rough idle, no more hiccups when accelerating, or bogging down. It does spool quicker, and im seeing maybe a pound more boost, and it pulls stronger at the top end, so its definitely faster, but I don;t think I'd see any massive drop in ETs.

Just the driveablitity would be worth the chip upgrade over stock. The stocker was lacking in a lot of areas and Eric is a top notch chip burner. One of the best to work with 110%.
