Valve cover gaskets

Question guys.... Valve cover gaskets. Rubber or cork? Both my valve covers are leaking from the rear portion and its time for a change.

I have no experiance with the rubber VC gaskets, I have only used cork and have never had a problem. What I do after I clean the VC gasket surface is I glue the gasket to the VC using a little 3M " Weather Strip and Gasket Adhesive " then after it sets up a few minutes I install the VC and tighten the bolts. Then after a month or so I go around and retighten the bolts. Hope this helps, Kyle.

I'm using Victor Reinz Cork Gasket
Victor Reinz Valve Cover Gasket #VS39763TC
I got them 4 years ago, from CarQuest, and EBay also has them, and no leak.
The gasket is made of a thin metal sandwich between two cork material, (minor trimming)
I have apply some Hi-Temp silicone on the cover side not on the heads side just in case you might want to remove the valve cover again.

Tried cork three times and possibly incorrectly installed mine. Used the same method using rubber gaskets (clean oil free, glue gaskets on vc, let it set, install at 80% trq, tighten up the following day) and mo more leaks with rubber +2 years. IMO, oil leaks suck. Your results may vary.

Cork...spray both sides of gasket with Hi-Temp Aluminum Paint...don't overtighten...after few heat cycles go back over bolts...tighten again...never have any leaks there anymore...
