I had a small leak on the passenger valve cover so I changed it a couple days ago. Stock valve cover and I used a felpro cork gasket.
I made sure I cleaned everything right and I used some black silicone gasket maker to seat the gasket to the valve cover before I installed it. I fought the valve cover getting it off but once I figured out the process I was able to just drop it right back in no problem so I'm pretty sure I didn't knick the gasket.
I was careful not to over tighten it and everything seems good. Took it for a drive and still smelled a little oil, kinda figured it was some residual oil from the gasket change. The car sat all day yesterday and now I have a good sized puddle under the car. I haven't put it on the hoist yet but from what I can tell it coming from the back of the valve cover down the exhaust on to the floor.
I checked the 4 bolts again and they were a little loose so I gave them a quick snugging up. Hopefully this will seal it up.
I've done all my valve covers this way for years and never a problem.
I did notice the felpro gasket didn't match the valve cover very well. Anyone deal with this issue?
