looks like it....but in that situation it's a judgement call.....

WOW!!! Thats some heavy stuff.... I dunno how that would hold up in court... I take it he is dead.... He did have something but not sure what it was:confused:

I have no sorrow for criminals but I'm not sure that deserved 3 bullets in the back from close range. Of course I guess it depends on what transpired before that (like if he killed someone).

He got out of the car, showed the first cop the gun. Then he walked another 5 paces, then turned and pointed the thing at him. After pointing, and not having the gun fire, he turned his back, kept walking, and it looked as though he put his left hand on the gun, in what could have been an attempt to jack the slide back and put a shell in the chamber.

I believe this is how the second officer interpruted the action, and fired to prevent the next step, wich would have to wheel around (again) this time firing a loaded gun.

If ever there was a suicide by cop, this was it.

The first cop should have fired as soon as the man pointed the gun at him. He didn't ( i guess) because the 'victim' turned his back right away. (to load the gun?)

Anyway if you wait until he turns around again, it's too late because even if the cop fires first, the perp (tv word:)), will get at least 3 shots off before he is stopped by shock, or pain. Unless he gets shot in the head, a determined shooter will fill you full of holes...At that close range, the first cop prolly would have died...

I dont know if the guy had a gun or not, but those cops are lousy shots!
Geeze they must have fired off 10 rounds at point blank range before they hit him.

Guy deserves what he got.
Rule 1: Police tell you to stop. You stop.
Rule 2: Police tell you to get on the ground. You get on the ground.
Pretty simple rules to follow.
Don't want to mix it up with the police? Try a little discretion and/or follow the rules. Don't like the rules? Get the f out!

I can't believe the comments that I'm seeing on this situation. F#@*'em let God sort'em out!!!!,,,,they just saved the courts time and money just so this clown could ride the system only to get out and victimize someone else.

I would not be a cop for long. They would kick me out in a minute. I would not have the tolerance that they showed in that video.

If someone points something at me, another officer, or any one else, I'd shoot first and ask questions later. PERIOD.

Lets see here: Cops are chasing you. You FINALLY stop. You get out of your car with something in your hand that MAY be a weapon. You point this object at another PERSON. Exactly how much risk should an officer or innocent bystander take before the officer ends the situation.

Kudos to the officers. Thank You for flushing one more leach of the cesspool of life.

Damn straight. Bad enuf the gotta deal with ****stain like that.....

BUT.... someone needs to go back to marksman school....musta dumped 10 shots into the guy...and he dropped after the last one or two. Eother they missed, or there was some serious dope in that guys body...

Cops: 1
Stupid guy that obviously had no respect for the cops: 0

"The stupid will be punished".

Guys...I'm from Shreveport, and you would not believe the sh!tstorm that has been generated from this. It has sparked several near riots and black leaders and clergy are screaming for the chief to resign. It is in fact a cell phone in his hand, but in the video it is impossible to distinguish it from a handgun. If it were a white cop shooting a white perp., or a black cop shooting a white or black perp., it would be forgotten already. But it was a white cop shooting a black perp., hence the sh!tstorm. There are still examples of racism in this world, obviously. However, this is NOT one of them.

Best I could tell it was 8 shots into him. Left officer for 3, right officer for 5. What you all have to remember is it is an officers duty to preserve life and that they can not be the judge, jury and executioner. They must use REASONABLE force to subdue a suspect. I am sure that if they wanted him dead they would have aimed for the head or center mass rather than winging him like it appears (shoulder shots for 3 that I could see.) How would it looked if they shot this guy right in the head, no more face to speak of (no pun intended) and it turned out that the whole time he had a hair brush. Then you would be screaming that they overstepped thier bounds. As far as I am concerned they only went as far as they needed to go and let him escalate the situation to where they had no other alternative? Anybody know if the guy lived?

these officers thought he had a gun and reacted as such

the comments about the number of shots or the accuracy of these shots is totally off the wall - obviously anyone making these comments has not been in that kind of situation

He got what he deserved. Period. He had a chance to stop and do as was told but chose not to. If that was a white guy or a green guy, makes no difference. I think this is why police depts should actively recruit MORE black officers. Its would not be such a big deal if black Officers did that. I know in Philly they assign black officers to events where they know black people are gonna attend just for this reason.. So if something DOES happen(hopefully not) race won't be an issue like it is usually. It works too.

There was a very similar video on cops where 2 officers are chasing a lady that is running, she crashed into her yard, jumps out and is backing away pointing a black object at the officers as they get out and draw their weapons. As it turns out she has a cell phone, this is in the middle of the night, and shes pointing at them just like it was a gun and from the vid you can't tell its not...neither officer fires but that lady is VERY lucky to be alive.

In this instance one officer did have him by the neck trying to restrain him but he fought away and pointed the object twice at the officers...kinda hard to make a phone call when your pointing the phone at people...if thats what it was, this guy either wanted to die or was so jacked up on something he thought he did have a gun.

I'm no cop but if he pointed something like that toward me he wouldnt have a head left

they will probly get fired after 10 million blacks march saying it was racist

anyone close to there should be standing up for the police in this situation ...
