Full page article in todays paper about the SL65 AMG.

Curb weight: 4,473
Horsepower: 604 @ 5,500 rpm
Torque: 738 @ 2,000 feet to 4,000 rpm

0-60 mph: 4.2

Tires: 255 35 19 front, 285 30 19 rear

Among the limiting factors: street tires...yet the trick is converting all that driveshaft twist to acceleration. If you nail the throttle in the SL65 (traction control turned off) the rear wheels simply boil of a few hundred dollars of exotic Italian rubber (even with its relativily high rear-end ration of 2.65:1,...

The article also say the car "clears the quarter-mile traps in 12 seconds..."

The MB website had the quarter-mile time at 10.2. I see, professional driver, close course, do try this at home, etc, etc.

I'm pretty sure the $500K 2005 McLaren Mercedes SLR won't run low 10's in the 1/4 and it's way faster than any AMG.

I'm guessing 10.2 is a typo. The SLR will run mid/low 11's in the high 120's with 626 HP.

That might be right after being "tweaked" by the factory.:D

Thompson are you at NAS Lemoore?thats where i work and i have a 1987 grand national 12.30 @ 116 was trying for high 11's
