Cool video. but

I never understood why people are always in a panic about their credit card.

You will never be held responsible for something you didn’t purchase. ever.

The card companies protect you.

D

It's the hassle mostly. However if you use a debit card, there is no protection - same as cash. I heard some banks are working to change them to credit card protection but I would not bet on it.

I just got had...I have absolutely NO idea where/when it happened.
BA called me, and said they had a ? "Did I just buy $3300 in TV, stereo equipment?"
They bought the stuff in a mall, 75 mi from my home. They got greedy, and tried to use it at a restaurant near the mall, and were turned down.
How in hell, did they get a "pass" on $3300, and not on $12.00?? I would think they had made a dupe card, and somehow had the sec code.
BA didn't shut the card off, until I had told them, "no, I did not".
Found out later, they were part of a theft ring out in Seattle....
?? Do the new cards with the chip, offer any better security?

As for the asshole in the video....Too bad someone didn't catch him, and do a serious beatdown on him..

Yeah they got me about 5 years ago. Took money right out of my account. When i noticed it happened. I contacted my bank and they canceled my card immediately and issued me another one and sent it to me but took about 7 days for me to receive it. The bank did what ever they had to do and found it in my favor and reimbursed my money back into my account. It never happened again, not before or after. I never did know how they did it,but took money right out of my account, just like if i had laid it out on the sidewalk for someone to pick up when they walked by.

Damn i hate thieves. :mad::rage:

A few years ago I had folks trying to use my credit card (CC). The info was gotten via hacking the CC clearing house. The issuer of the CC called me to see if I was trying to make various purchases. Nope, not me. The card number was immediately canceled and the issuer Fed-x'd a new card out to me with a different number.

When you use a CC the information from the card doesn't go directly to the issuer, it goes through a clearing house selected by that merchant. The clearing house then forwards the purchase information to the CC issuer.

Most times the thief will "test" the card with an attempt to get a $1.00 approval.

If you see one of these transactions on your recent activity, call the bank right away.

Not necessarily a thief. While on a trip last year, there were some gas stations in North & West Texas that did the $1.00 dip on our card. Why? I have no idea and it scared me a bit, but it all worked out...
