I think I have located my water leak that comes into the left side of the passenger side floorboard. Someone told me to check under the screen up under the hood against the firewall...well now my question is what type of sealant or what not should I use to make this waterproof?

It's not the heater core I don't think....I ran the car for a while with the heater on high and no water or leak.

I"m getting no steam on the windshield when on defrost and the heater ran for 30 minutes with no water leakage....wouldn't something have happened if it was the heater core?

If not the heater core, is it only leaking when it rains?
I had a leak in my Monte on the passenger side floorboard, it turned out to be there is a seam where the floor pan meets the upper body just right above the passengers feet, and the seal had gotten hard and cracked and fell out, thus water when it rains would seep in and make the carpet wet under the floor mat....took the carpet out and sealed it up with Ultra-Black gasket sealer.

Tomorrow I'll do some more pinpointing. I just got the car so I am not sure. But I only noticed the water after being in hard rain.

I used black RTV in the regular sized tube for my water leak in the GN.

Worked fine no soapy water on the carpet when going through the car wash last time.

Dries a bit shiny compared to the dull heater box black area but as long as it sealed up I was happy. :)

Thick bead worked for me, push it into the seam a bit with a tongue depressor or similar sized implement.
