I noticed my car running a little warmer than usual today and when I raised the hood the reservoir was still full of water. Normally it would be low. Checked the radiator and had to put about a half of gallon of water in it. What is keeping the water from going from the reservoir to the radiator? Also, can't fiqure out where the water is going. When I park it there isn't any water leaking out. Thanks, R.B.

A bad rad cap will often keep the water from being drawn into the rad.

Are you saying that you keep adding water because you don't know where it's going? If so you might have a head gasket on the way out and you are burning it..?

or blowing it by the headgasket back into the coolant passage, into rad and out the overflow....do you see any sign of coolant coming out of the overflow?

No water is coming out of the overflow. I hope it's not a head gasket! How do yo check for a bad one? Thanks, R.B.

one of the signs is missing coolant.......check your oil for any presence of water (milky oil)......compression/leak down test..pull a valve cover and look for moisture/milky oil.....oily coolant

If it is a head gasket what is the cost to relace? Or maybe I don't want to know!!! R.B.
