I was redoing some of the wiring for my gauges, so I had my radio out. Got everything wired up and before putting the radio back in, I noticed two brown electrical connectors located in the area between the glovebox and the radio. They look like they go together but don't. Does anyone know what these are for? And/or have the wiring drawing for this area? Thanks.

Brandon

The top brown connector has one grayish color wire going to it. The lower brown connector has one grayish wire with a white stripe. Taped right next to the top brown connector is a black connector with a red wire and white wire going to it. None of these are connected to each other other anything else.

factory prewire for trunk release.

If these aren't connected then is that why my power trunk button doesn't work? Thanks.

Brandon

According to the manual the trunk release button has a brown and black wire going to the switch. Not gray.

My wiring diagram is a piece of crap it doesnt identify every thing.
In one view it shows a sentinel amplifier there for the twilight sentinel option. And in another view it says ashtray light.Does anybody know if Limiteds or T's without consoles had ashtray lights?

The trunk switch has both the black and brown wire going to it. So I don't think these brown connectors are for that. I forgot that the trunk needs power to the key to unlock, silly me.

So....what color are the wires for the twilight sentinel and for the ashtray lights? Thanks.

i went outside and checked my car, and the ahs tray light (non-console) is black and grey. i have twilight, but dont really want to take my dash that far apart:D

just fyi though, i put my twilight setinal in from a junkyard car, and my car had NO existing wiring for the twilight option.

Ashtray power is a gray wire and I think all cars are wired for them. Non-console cars have them.

There is a brown and white stripe wire and a gray wire that do get connected together for the lights on reminder output terminal G of the sentinel amplifier. Location of the connectors is C368 behind the instrument panel right side of the radio.

If you don't have the sentinel option they don't get plugged into each other.

Can't tell much from your photo. Sorry.

That would explain why these aren't plugged in, they are for the twilight sentinel option, that my car doesn't have. You were right on the money salvageV6.

I went over to gnttype.org and after much staring at the wiring diagrams for the accessories and such, I found the amplifier. All the wires coming off of it match all the ones not connected in my car.

Thanks for your help everyone. It's not often something like this stumps me but it's nice to know there's a place to go when something does.
