I have a ta 49, Razor alky, xp fuel pump hot wired, 009's, cold air, kit, turbo tweak chip, stock intercooler, stock trans, and stock converter. I don't want to go into the engine . Car runs strong. I just want to go faster. what would be the best turbo and intercooler. Thanks Justin

I'd get an IC next, either a FMIC or any of the stock loc stretch ones from Cotton or Precision. With a bigger turbo, you'll have to get a larger stall converter.

Why would you need an upgraded intercooler W/ alky? IMO, you dont need it. run a dutt neck IC and be done with it.

HP is about getting all the O2 you can get, into the engine. The cooler the air, the more O2. Cooling the air means using all the I/C you can afford. While lots of folks want to say you need to run 9s to run a Cottons, logic doesn't bear that out. The smaller Turbos put alot of heat into the air when compressing it to high levels. So the bigger intercoolers are even more effective with the smaller turbos. And Alky still helps, even with a F/M, not as mcuh since the air is cooler, but it's all about detonation control.

BB turbo and Cotton FM.

If I was a guy looking to go faster and knew I would keep wanting to step up more and more (which most people do) then I would get a Cotton FM right at first and never look back. There is no down side at all to this IC other than the initial $$ investment. That said I still think $$ for $$ its the best IC on the market for doing what its supposed to do. I have a friend that can give you some real nice feed back on the Cotton FM and some other very popular IC's for our cars. I personally run a liquid IC.

Turbos are tricky because they need supporting parts. You can get a nice upgrade turbo alot cheaper than the Cotton FM but you'll go broke buying the stuff you need to make it work:
1. convertor
2. bigger injectors
3. 3" down pipe
4. built trans (seams to be unavoidable)

Turbos are cheap to buy but not cheap to get set up for. The 49 is a nice upgrade turbo over the stocker. I would get a few more supporting pieces in place before I ran out and bought a bigger one.

Watch out for the bang for the buck. That usually means you spend $$'s for the "A bang" which is fun and your happy with the $$'s you spent. Then you sell that for WAY less than you paid for it, add some more $$'s to get the "B bang", happy, bored, sell, lose your but again, more $$'s "C bang" .... Buy the good stuff a piece at a time and never look back, less hassel and you'll save thousands of dollars!

Prime example: I'm getting ready to buy my FIFTH set of injectors. If you figure all the $$'s I lost reselling my old injectors plus the price of my new ones it works out to be about $1000 and we haven't said a word about the $$'s spent on chips to run them.

Thanks For the info, i forgot to mention I have an atr 3 dp and an atr2.5 stainless dual exhaust. I will start with the intercooler and go from there. Thanks again Justin
