i'm thinking about adding a blow off valve to my car and was wondering what's a good one to go with and pros and cons

the HKS SSQV is the best. i tried a bunch of em back when i used to use one

At your performance level, I'd say whichever one you think sounds the best. Functionally, HKS SSQV is the best because it can't leak. Audibly, I think the Greddy Type-S is the best sounding. Not sure about some of the newer ones.

You can also get 1 or 2 of the stock 1G DSM BOVs for 40$ each. At your power level, one would be fine.

I have an ATR BOV with up pipe I will sell......ATR made it specifically for TRs....Let me know if your interested....

You have the complete ATR intercooler with the BOV on the bottom??

Don't sell this guy something that will not bolt on like he is thinking about.

Sorry, had to say something.

Did ATR sell another way to install their BOV??

I had that IC and thier BOV a long time ago....

bro, save yourself some money, and dont install a blowoff valve. theyre not necessary. and no, it dont help your turbo last longer. sure, it eliminates compressor surge, but really, its not that big of a deal man. trust me, noones had to rebuild a good turbo, due to too much compressor slam. trust me lol.
And you say you like the sound? thats easy. get a tin man cold air kit, a super free flowing exhaust, and turn the boost up a little, then, when you get in the boost, let off the pedal quick, which, we all do anyways, its an automatic part of driving a car..and youll hear a cool noise that sounds sorta like a blow off valve workin.. theyre simply not necessary. not for sound, or performance..

Tell that to my PT54 thats in pieces now:mad: right after that I went with a BOV and it *seems* to help.....All I remember is I hit 22# on the freeway racing an audi S of some sorts(killed him by the way) and when I let off all I heard was BOOM! haha oh well

if you blew a turbo, by getting out of the throttle too quick, you had underlying problems with the turbo already. not having a blow off valve wasnt the problem. You know that man...

Well after numerous times of letting off at #20+, it probably didnt help......

A BOV is just insurance for the turbo as far as I'm concerned. The GN is the only turbo car I've seen that doesn't come with a BOV stock, probably because they don't run much boost stock. If you plan to run 25+ you should get one, especially if you have an expensive turbo, cheap insurance.

Do you know how many guys here run 20+ lbs of boost, and dont brake their turbos doing so?

Yeah, I know.....I dont want to argue about it because in reality, Who knows....some people get lucky and some people dont....thats what it comes down to.....

svo mustangs " didnt come with bov's and they even had stick shifts..

Tial or the SSQ are great, some guys are having luck with the ebay knock offs, some say they leak at higher psi:confused:

Both those real blows offs are pretty pricey and a rebuild is about $100 more.
I would leave it alone and when it dies use the saved money to rebuild it.
