I am getting ready to store my car in my garage for the winter. I hear alot of people say they put their cars on jack stands to get the tires off the ground. I want to get my car as close to the back wall as I can. I am looking at getting 4 wheel dollies so I can roll my car into the corner. They seem like they would cradle the wheel pretty good so the tires do not get a flat spot. Does anyone on this site use them to store their car? Do you think they would ruin my tires?

Yep.

Do you think they would ruin my tires?

No more so than leaving the car sit on the ground, I would imagine.

Do not make the same mistake I did and buy cheap ones... mine are from Harbor Freight. They do not roll well at all. In fact sometimes they end up sliding as much as rolling. Bottom line is that while the car can be moved around, it's not at all easy to do.

car dollies

I have a set of 4 like from Merrick Machine Co. that you can get from JC Whitney 139.99 for 4 6000lbs
I used them on my GN and on my 2002 camaro SS which has 9" wide tires
rolled fine on concrete and no issues with the tires

I've been storing my car for years like that, with no flat spots. I got mine from eastwood for about $120. The part of the dollies that holds the tire is curved to prevent flat spots. Just make sure all the casters are facing in the direction you want to move the car, or it's tough to push it by yourself.

I think harbor freight is about the cheapest place to get them.

Dollies

Yes trying to push It yourself is real tough get help! and only push on the tires or bumpers or you might dent a panel

Ummm, guys, this is the modern age. We drive on radial tires these days. No flat spots.
Don't get me wrong, the dollies are a great idea.
But having to worry about tire problems from just a winter storage is a non problem.
Radials don't flat spot. Or if they do, you've got the wrong tires.

Heck, my 84 Z28 sits, sometimes for a couple years at a time without moving. When I do take it out, there's never a tire problem.

Thanks everyone. I just bought a set online. Says they hold up to 4000lbs combined and they are made out of heavy guage aluminum. Did not know that radials do not get flat spots. Never liked the idea of putting 4 jack stands under my cars frame and have the shocks extend to their fullest length while exposing the full shock shaft to mositure and cold.
