Wheel spacers and studs??

Hey Guy’s
I just bought BFG Dr’s 257/50 15 on stock 84 GN wheels. I have about ¼” space between the tire and the frame on the Dr. side and 1/8 on the Pass. side. What size spacers should I get? Jegs sells them in sizes 7/32 5/19 7/16. Also will I have to get longer wheel studs? If so how do you install them? In jeg’s it says that they are press in??

first see if they rub with no spacers. 7/32 should give you the clearance you need. You can purchase 2" long studs for a Regal from Auto Zone or Discount. They are the same thread as the studs on the car. I use the 7/16" spacers on my rear IROC wheels, but just for looks. I have the 2" studs.

They way i've removed and installed studs are as follows. You can hammer the old ones out, and when you put the new ones on start them from the back, and put an open nut on the outside and tighten until the stud is all the way through.

The tires on the pass side come very close to rubbing I might have 1/8” space. On the Dr. side I have about ¼” space. How much total space should I have to keep from rubbing when taking curves at speed? Do you need to pull the axles out to get the studs in and out? The open lug nut sounds like a good idea.

No need to pull axles on the 2" studs I described. Just install as the other poster instructed. You can get GM lugs at the junkyard that are open. You can get the style with twist on plastic caps. I'd just go with the 7/16" spacers to avoid rubbing. No problem with the two inch lug studs.

I will be ordering them tomorrow so I can hit the track with my BFG DR’s Thursday. I’m sure they will hook up a lot better then my stock tires. I’m really glad that I don’t have to remove the axles.
