Which one would you get or did you get?

I am leaning towards the PowerMaster 140A at RamChargers for $200 with the bigger power wire to the battery.

The odd thing is that Summit has the Powermaster 120a at $190 but the 140a is $330. I think Ram has the amps wrong on the site.

Alternator parts has the CS 130 chrome kit for $87.

I have a stock rebuild on the car right now with around 2k on it before the bearing went out again. I am not interested in paying $80 for a rebuild on the crappy looking stocker again.

I believe the Ramchargers one is for the 1984/1985 cars.

I got one to work but it wasn't all that easy or pretty. ;)

Different mounting.

If I had money to burn, I'd get the Powermaster 200 amp.

You could get the $87 chrome kit and the amp upgrade on that other buick site :-)

I'm debating the same thing. The Powermaster is just too much money now, so I'm going to do the amp upgrade and maybe send the parts out for chrome.

Stick with the CS144 style alternator (stock on the 86-87 TR's and 89 TTA as well as all the LT1 powerd Corvettes, F bodies, B Bodies and and host of other FWD cars). This IMHO is the best alternator GM has offered in any of their cars. It is durable thanks to the large case, large heat sinks and large bearings. The CS130 is definitely a very light duty unit and IMHO would be a down grade regardless of how many amps it puts out. The most common failure on the CS130 is frozen/seized rear bearings as they are simply too small. GM used the CS130 on many cars of the 80's and early 90's. On the standard b bodies and trucks it was the base alternator with the CS144 the optional heavy duty unit on 9C1 tbi Caprices and heavy duty trucks.
