I would venture to guess that much of the hallabaloo is because the site had changes made to it and humans are just naturally resistant to change.
You guys did a good job, but since it's "new" some folks feel it important to mark their territory, be it positively or negatively.
Now I won't say that I feel it's important, but here is my view from afar.
If you didn't expect some negative feedback, there is the distinct possibilty that you may have set the bar a little high for yourselves.
I have to admit, if I were to be a paying vendor on this board, I would be none to happy with the way the ads have been integrated into the site.
I have seen people scolded here for even mentioning non-supporting vendors in the past, and that is a fact.
It will be interesting to see how this is handled in the future. The old way will certainly seem to be a little subjective if you choose to restrict users recommending any type of vendor with this new format.
It's your site and you are free to run it as you see fit. I'm just sayin'.
I will also step up and say that I don't like the e bay stuff either (after all, that's what e bay is for) but I know and understand the need for it's being included.
Additionally, I know these boards don't exist without the hard work, determination, dedication and the tons of effort provided by folks like you. Thank you for your commitment!
I know it takes cash money, too.
That said, perhaps there is a way to place some sort of denotation for e bay ads (possibly a leading or trailing asterisk or different color in the heading) and that difference in headings would be of assistance to those who wish to scan the new posts with greater ease.
Somebody had to play the devil's advocate, I guess it was me.
Again, thank you for all you do.
