I know my car uses a MAF sensor and IAT for fuel and timing but I thought it still had a MAP sensor to measure barometric pressure. Is this correct? I'm trying to hook up a reference voltage to my powerlogger to record boost but I can't find the MAP sensor. I thought it was suppose to be on the passenger side fender but the only thing there is the electric boost guage sensor. I followed all vaccum lines from the manifold and nothing. There is a three wire plug on the passenger side fender that is not plugged into anything. The wire colors are black, green and grey. Is that suppose to be hooked up to a MAP sensor?

yes that is the plug for the map sensor. i believe the gray wire is five volt, black ground and green is the output reading for the sensor. the green wire would be the one u want to tap into but first u need to get a 3 bar map sensor. originally the map sensor should have been connected to the last vacuum port on the the top of the plenum, 5th one. if u have a GNX or a digital dash i believe ur car did not come with a map sensor from factory, it was only used for the analog dashes boost gauge, nothing else. hope this helps!

x2. If you do not have a 3 Bar you will need one. You can also tap into the green wire behind the glove box if you do not want to run a long wire into the engine compartment.

Thanks for the info. The car was a digital dash but I converted to GNX style dash so I guess it didnt come with a MAP sensor. I have a 3-bar sensor that came with the alky kit that I will be installing this weekend so I'll just hook it up then.

Thanks

i just installed an alky kit on my car and i love it, thats also where i just learned some of the info about the MAP sensor!

Hi, Good replies from Johnny and Dreamcar. What looks like a MAP sensor is, instead used as a boost sensor, on analog equipped cars only. It is replaced with a switch on the digital cars. It's a f****d up system, but hey, I could have a digital dash;that would be REALLY f****d up. Sorry to you guys with the digitals, but you probably know they suck. Anyway, I digress.....

The couple of guys had good info and ideas, and the only thing I can add is that this is not a processed signal, but is an analog input. So, if you can use that in your reprogramming, fine. I guess the boost gauge converts it to digital, but who wants to go there?
Good luck with this issue, and please keep us posted.
