Why do my post count numbers don't add up?

I have noticed for the last 3 or 4 months that my post count numbers don't move. I can post like Heisenberg and the numbers don't go up, but every blue moon they do. Now Heisenberg is the undisputed post whore for 2013, and I'm not disputing that , but with my meager posting how do I ever elevate my status if 8 out of 10 don't count?

I don't know what other forums here do it, but posts in the Lounge DON'T go on your post count.

Troy, what a lie.... you never have anything to say!!

Not really, curiosity mainly. Otherwise why have a count?

i'd rather be able to see where everyone's from- it would make it easier to figure out what everyone's talking about when they bitch about/brag about the weather or their local sportsball team..

Click on your name. You're from Ashby, MN.

Not sure a post count really matters but it's sometimes a helpful tool to determine how long an individual has been around. Notice that we lately have a lot of new folks?
Not sure I want to buy a car from a guy with 3 posts (not saying it's bad, but since people start to get "known" here, it seems like a safer bet to buy from a "known" member)
Also, while not 100% accurate, a higher post count might indicate that this "member" is still in good standing and has not been banned- at least not yet.

Personally, I preferred the feedback count (It's nice to know who you're doing business with and helps with accountability- it's one of the first things I look at on ebay- so, why not here?)... Heck, I'd put it right there with the post count. I could give a crap about "likes"... Just my .02

btw, I don't think your post count goes up if you post in the Marketplace sections either.

I guess it does depend on what section you post in. Just posted in general tech and it "counted". Like I said, was more curious then anything else, as other things work differently on the site since it was changed. All my notifications go to junk mail now and haven't been able to change it on my phone. Thanks for the replies ;)

I look at that also, feel a bit more secure about sending money to someone that's been on the board and is "known" then not. I've bought quite a few parts off of members this past year, and with nothing other then post counts and how many years on the board, I'm always eating the paypal fees so if something does go sideways I have some recourse.
Speaking of buying from members on the board, I want to say that ALL of my transactions with members here have been pretty seamless and everything went the way it was supposed to. Going fast with class, it's been a pleasure!:)
Now if I could figure out how to rig a breathalyzer to my laptop that would prevent me from accessing the marketplace section of the board when I've had 3 too many... and waking up to find what the latest trinket I've bought for my car;) Cheers!
