Hey,

Does anyone have Wildblue? If so, what's your opinion on how is it working for you? Good / bad? Any problems? Anything you would have done differently?

We used to have it before we moved to a different town. It's ok, not blazing fast, far better than dial up, which was the only other option we had. Kinda pricey for no more than what it was but we had no choice. Only "real" complaint: Moderate to severe storms block it out. Pretty much any storm that cuts off the satellite dish would cut off the 'net. So I had to rely on the trusty FM radio and the local country station for weather updates while in my double wide with nowhere to hide anyway. Had to watch the radar in advance and guess if it was going to hit me or not. LOL Oh and my willow tree grew so fast that in 2 years it had grown in front of the signal that was 5 feet above it when the dish was installed. Had to move it once.

Thanks for the info. We compared WildBlue to Hughesnet which was at the house when we moved in and it was a little cheaper and supposed to be faster.

We are going to stream stuff over it for TV so we will see how it does.

I can tell you DON'T go with hughesnet unless you have no other choice. My inlaws used it because they had no other choice besides dial up. What they don't tell you is there is a bandwith limit. Watch two or three youtube videos and your done on the internet for the night.

Thanks Glenn.

WildBlue talks about bandwidth "threasholds" also. Exceed this in a 30 day period and they may reduce your speed. it's 17,000MB for the top package. The details are in their "Fair Access Policy" and the web link doesn't work to view it!

Install is Saturday so we will see...

Oh crap I forgot about that. The wildblue threshholds were ok for us most of the time. My wife uploaded a lot of huge images to shutterfly when we got it and we exceeded it and they slowed us way down for a few days. After that I don't think it was an issue but then again we never downloaded much video.
