I changed my trans fluid this weekend. I noticed one if the wires next to the trans filter was not connected. This wire was on the passenger side right next to the filter. It connects to a silver studlike thing. I am pretty sure I did not knock it off when I dropped the pan. Does anybody know what this wire does? My trans was acting kind of funny the last trip to the track. Not sure if this had anything to do with that or not.

TIA

That's the fourth clutch pressure switch wire. If disconnected and not grounding out on anything, it would tell your ECM that the transmission was in fourth gear at all times.

If it was touching the valve body or pan and grounding out, the ECM would think that the transmission is not ever shifting to fourth. These switches (3rd & 4th) provide information to the ECM as part of the decision making process for converter clutch activation.

Regardless, if your transmission is acting up in some way, it's not the disconnected wire since the 200-4R controls are hydraulic.

At least that explains why my direct scan was picking up funny gear selector numbers.

Thanks
