A girlfriend and I are heading to Europe for about 2.5 weeks in August! I’m not much of a world traveler but I am really excited about this trip. She has been there several times and speaks fluent French and Spanish so she’ll be an excellent companion to lead me around.
First stop is 3-4 days in London (I want to see Stonehenge) then to Paris, Prague, Linz (Austria), Freidstadt then to Vienna. She has family/friends in several of those cities so lodging will be free/cheap for most of the stay..
She’s VERY excited to go back and I can tell she’s going to run me ragged!!..LOL
I hope nothing comes up that keeps us from going..:D

Have fun, sounds like a great trip. There is no comparison between north america and europe, its a totally different environment (obviously). My favorite european destination so far, Scotland.

Hope you enjoy it over here. It IS a different world. I see you're skipping around Germany. :)

I've been to Paris... just DON'T drive there.. it's crazy. I've only been in Austria for a brief period so can't tell you what that's like. As for Prague, that's INTERESTING. We drove there, because I wanted to see how the other half lived (communist block). I found Prague to be somewhat dirty and really urban... But it was really fascinating to see how the communist block lived. Still, by the river and attractions, it's nice. I don't know how you're getting there, but we drove from Germany, through East Germany to Czech Republic. Strange... there's no autobahn, highway or anything. Just a tiny road to the crossing.

Anyways.. during August, we won't be here.. :( Otherwise, I'd invite you over. However, if you need any help or have any questions that can be helped from here, drop me a PM.

Have fun on your trip.

Awesome! Are you flying from Paris to Prague? I think it's a 14 hour train ride or something, but I'm not sure. Could be rough. I LOVED Prague - one of my favorite cities in Europe, for sure. If you take the subway, make sure you stamp your ticket at the little posts on the way in ... it's on the honor system, but the fines are high and the undercover cops dressed as bums love to nail travellers (especially my backpacker friends!). Make sure you go off the beaten trail to find good places that aren't touristy ... we ate two full course meals w/ about 4 beers each and the bill was $5 each total! (you can't get that good a deal at the tourist places, though!) If you like Pilsner, Prague has the best! I didn't find Prague dirty at all... but then again I live in Philly/NYC and don't think it's dirty there either. :) When in Prague, we caught some unbelievable concerts dirt cheap - we saw Vivaldi 4 seasons in an amazing church for $3. Incredible musicians, too.

Oh yeah - the Stonehenge thing is a good distance from London, if I remember right (I was 8 yrs old though, so the long drive may not have been all that long).

I just got back from Amsterdam/Paris for a week long trip a few weeks ago and had a great time. Not too much anti-American sentiment. Some anti-New York sentiment (my girl is a true new yorker and can get quite fired up very easily ... I had to break up a few little altercations!). Look out for the strikes in Paris - when one public sector goes on strike, like the airlines, it seems that everybody decides to take the day off!

If you can fit it in, I wouldn't miss Barcelona. The beach is within walking distance from the best part of the city. The women - dear god! the WOMEN! Yikes!

I'm jealous. Have a great time!
