Mike Bamfords DLS powered turbo LSx project

Looks great guys, looking forward to seeing that car out. I run those same headers, but mine is a Ford. That turbo doesn't look like the gt47-88 that I run. You probably know this but if it is gt47-88, you might want to keep the motor as small as possible. it works great on my car, 348cid, but I know of a car we tried it on that was over 400cid and it didn't work very well.

It has the same wheels yours does. You just have the bigger housings. He is not planning on making sick power with this engine just a street car with some occasional trips to the track.

There will be some update pictures soon. The car is coming around real nice.

Some more pics

Picked up the engine at DLS along with some other stuff. I see he has been real busy down there. Stroker kits everywhere as well as a lot of V6 projects in the works.

Here is a picture of the engine. Will follow up with some more shots when the car is back from the interior shop and it's back down at the shop again. We intend on having this thing out before June 1st for some shakedown passes.

We spent a few hours last night dropping it in. Things are going in real nice. We will be plumbing up the fuel system and starting on the BigStuff installation next.

Here is another picture. We were busy last night working down at the shop getting some more of the plumbing done. I am bringing the Bigstuff 3 by and we are going to get to work wiring it and hope to have it fired up soon. We were impressed that the turbo meets the stock orientation rules for TSO, now we need to see if we can get through tech. ;) We are not figuring we will have much of a problem as we have 2 extra cylinders as a handicap

any updates ? interested in this concept. what are you doing for a transmission? who made crossover and dowwnpipe? thanks for the help

Just about everything is wrapped up minus some wiring. We ended up squeezing in another project that came out of left field so it looks like the end of June till we can finish it up and do some "street testing". We were hoping to have it run at Pinks in the end of the month, but it's going to be the TSM car going now.

does anyone know if the BRP Muscle Rods Your LS1 - LSX Conversion Kit that your using also works with the 4l80e tranny, in the product description it only says 4l60e and t56. just curious

I spent the better part of a few weeks after hours and wired the car. The engine fired up with very little changes except setting the throttle blade. There was some custom work to be done for the LS1 to LS2 conversion also, but no real biggie. I drove the car around the block a several times and the driveability is great. Mike is going to finish up the interior now and we should be out "Cruising" Gratiot soon........

We have had the Turbo LSx Regal out a few times so cruising around on the street while I have been tuning the drivablility. It drives great. We ran it on the wastegate spring (3psi) and we had some traction issues there.

We are going back out tonight with some different tires and are going to throw some boost at it. ;)

Mike, you should stop by and take a look at the car.

Here's a in car shot while I was doing some tuning. We turned right just after the picture was taken and had a issue hooking the car up....

Are you bringing the LS! car to the Moose Preserve the 12th. I would love to see this car in person better yet take me for a ride. I want to do a similar build with My GN!

Ted,

Can you post some video for us next time?
I would love hear what she sounds like!

John, we had the video camera tonight, but I was busy tuning and wanted to get the driveablity done. Woodward is getting real busy since the cruise is next week. We went on a 35 mile road trip tonight and took out a 68 Camaro after giving him the leave and we were only running 3.8 PSI of boost:biggrin: , some tubbed old Ford with a blower sticking out of the hood and some kids with a old Chevelle that probably just liked getting beat like little red headed step children, LOL. I am really liking this thing and tuning it has been a blast. We managed to find that about 7psi is where the car is a handful and on the verge of dangerous with the ET streets. We are still running it through the dual 3" ATR exhaust system on the street and expect the car will wake up a little bit more with it opened up, but it sounds so great through the muffs I'm liking it this way. We are planning on going back out this weekend so I will get some video because the WOT is done now.
