Have a customers car here for XFI and figured I'd pull some data since we hardly see any on such close to stock applications. Engine is a stock short block with stock heads stock rocker arms and a TA 49 Garrett .63. Alky/93 fuel. Converter is stock. Has a Dutt neck stock Intercooler. Exhaust was just switched before any data gathered from stock dp to TH 3" dp. Open exhaust from the dp. XFI for engine management. The car has previously run 12.33@108.68 with a 1.85 60' on stock ecu through the Pypes exhaust with race pros, and stock dp at LVD. Not sure about air quality. We're seeing high 20's low 30's boost and 45-50psi exhaust pressure here after removing the air flow restrictions of the stock MAF and dp. Seems to start to drop cylinder fill in the high 4000's. Not using a lot of fuel. Very indicative of stock heads and high drive pressures. Still looks like it's using enough to run 11.1x. With no changes to the wastegate we just picked up 5psi boost after speed density install. Haven't touched the timing or the targets (has targets and timing strategy of a low 10/high 9 alky engine) and haven't locked the converter yet either.

70-110mph (vss data) a little under 6 sec.

I'd expect huge gains with an Intercooler here. Pressure drop is likely high and cooling is limited with the stocker

Turbo all in. Maxing out map sensor early in hit. Boost likely 38-40psi at the last few frames of wot. Exhaust pressure 70psi!!! I tried to lock the converter but wouldn't stay locked when I floored it. I'll have to change solenoids before he runs it

So a duttneck ic does hold back a 49/44?? First time I've read that here interesting, & thanks

Also was under the impression alky negated the lack of cooling w/ slic, appreciate the lesson I'm a perma-novice.

Is there plans for an intercooler change?
Probably not unless someone wants to pay for the data. I have one I can use that will reduce pressure drop to almost zero and reduce charge air temps to within 10* of ambient

Alky has no effect on the Intercoolers ability to flow air and that's what we need is flow

I'm not logging hot boost pressure or I'd be able to give more data. I wouldn't be surprised if it's 6psi pressure drop at 5000rpm

C'mon Brian put this in laymans trems so we all can get this. So far this has been great info!!!!

Hot boost=pre charge air cooler. Looking at current drive pressure to manifold pressure ratio of 1.6:1 you can see really easily how dropping 6psi of pressure drop out of it will drop exhaust pressure 10-11psi. That alone will increase VE substantially not to mention the added cooling effects from the superior Intercooler. Also the exhaust pressure could be run up to 50psi again and likely 5-6psi more at the manifold. No doubt that would increase power.

In other words Alky is the cats meow ...

Very interesting data. Do attribute the biggest gain from the xfi not needing the maf or the free flowing exhaust?

Almost all the gain in manifold pressure is from the speed density

No. Alky can't increase air flow as stated above. If you mean Alky such as straight ethanol/methanol and delete the Intercooler then yes there's huge potential in that

Understood but you mentioned something about lack of cooling with the stocker didn't think that was an issue with alky..
