152 mph at 3000 lb race weight works out to 880 bhp. That mph should also be 8.95s run.
E85 stoich is 9.8:1, and best power is at 7.0:1. Are you running 10.5:1 with E85?
Why no love for the beehive?
Where are your hp/torque peaks? Do you have a dyno graph?
Do you believe the sensor is picking up false knock, or some other mechanical noise? What is the rpm band where you detect knock? Is it intermittent, or does it appear every time?
The equation for converting flow numbers at different pressure drops is:
sqrt(new/old)
e.g. from 40" to 28" water, we have sqrt(28/40) = sqrt(0.7) = 0.8367
so 300 cfm @ 40" water is 0.8367 * 300 = 251 cfm @ 28"

I was wrong on the cast iron block and bed plate. Still one heck of a solid motor. Still shares the oiling issues...
Which valve do you believe causes the valve control issue? Is it valve toss or valve bounce? Or another issue?
Conceptually: (not synonymous with "vague")
Brute force can be used to close the valve, then beef up the valvetrain to cope - at the expense of mass, cost, and friction. Adding mass...

150# seat force is the highest l've seen for the 3800.
Any good engineer should be able to quantify his statement...never mind qualify. Soft HOW? Are you just looking at advertised vs 0.050" vs 0.200" duration? Are you talking about...
Large diameter 240# springs, super long pushrods, 11/32 stems, solid roller - 1960s BBC tech. That's what Smokey had when he developed the Stage ll in the early 1980s. Modern lobes rev to 8000 rpm with hydraulic rollers and 150# seat pressure (this is VERY impressive).
So, how did you...
don't l feel like an a$$. l didn't read the whole thread last year, when l posted, and not until just now :/ A low 9 second V6 street car is surprisingly doable.
You have a 270 ci V6: 4.00" x 3.59"
2.10" x 1.625" valves
First, the 232 will behave very differently than the 270. I spec'd a...
You say you want more low end torque, and also want to rev to 8000. There's no free lunch. You can't have big ports AND big cam AND big turbo, and expect low end torque. However, big ports and small cam will give you a wider torque band than small ports and big cam. It sounds like you want...
Many of the responses are very old school.
Look at port area on ANY 4 valve motor. They aim for Mach 0.4 max - even turbo motors.
It is the *combination* of head and cam that determines operating range. Big ports need small cams. It works better than small heads and big cam - broader torque...
Not only less journal-main overlap from offset grinding for the larger stroke, but grinding to 2.10" rod journals have less journal-journal overlap. Do they roll the journals, and nitride the crank after grinding?!
Cody: What A/R, housing type (T3/T4) and is it divided? And it spools at...
There's no problem with 2.02" intake valves in a 231 ci motor. It'll be perfectly happy peaking at 6200 rpm - with very short cam duration. i'm guessing around 206* and ~.550" lift - the higher the better. As long as the ports are efficient, the bigger the valve the better. I'd want to see...
I went to PRI last week. I talked to some GMPP guys and told me that I couldn't get complete state 2 blueprints, only small bits and pieces. Today he sent me a short, non-technical article :/
Continuing with the Viper/Mopar theme, I raked the exhaust flange to 45*. It gives me a really nice...
thank you for your input! i'll look into screw interference with 1.75" headers. i've already mirrored the exhaust bolts from stock series III 3800 to clear the head bolts. if you look closely, one of the exhaust screws intersects the accessory hole :( i was thinking of making all the holes...
Thanks Mike! I'm eager to see how your project is coming along!
they are a work in progress. I was studying a gen II viper head today...so many nice little details...that i will copy! :) T&D have told me that I can use warhawk LS7 rockers. those are peanut ports that need to be opened up...
