hello everyone my question is anyone running a 3:23 gear with a 28 inch tire & how fast are you trapping thru the 1/4? & also how's your 60ft . My combo is 4.1 ported gn1s 80lb s -215/ 220hyd rllr with 1.65 rockers ptc nl 18 blade precs fm 93/alky ttw 6.1 chip 6870 turbo 3in down pipe. Thanks for all of your help & advice & input guys
 
Why would you care about your MPH in the 1/4 mile? In competition, it is the first one to the finish light that will get the win.

I never used a 3.23 rear gear, but have tried a 3.73 and a 3.90 with a high 9 sec. 4.1 build, and found the stock 3.42 works best for my combo. The sixty foots are a consistent 1.42, and it pulls the front tires about 10" when launching.

If you do not leave the line with a big-block car with double the cubic inches of our V-6, your chance of winning that run is slim.

ive run plenty of different gear ratios in these cars,in certain instances gearing can help the combo out.looking at your sig if you want to soften the hit to the tire initially or you don't have a lot of rpm to play with I could see you wanting to take some gear out but understand its not going to be the majic bullet.
 
tta used 3.29 and ran a shorter tire at 25.4 vs GN's 26.1

i put 3.23 richmonds in murphsters T mickey pro 275/60 drag radial and he didnt loose any on the 60' (1.33s) vs running 3.42s trapping 145 mph (9.20 ) under 6000rpm
my 86 GN is running same 3.23 gear (gm) 3490# , same mickey pro , havent tried yet to see what i could get out of the 60' more concerned with catching the tree (1.41 ) and usually trapping 139 at 5850
both are running a TH400rmvb , 71hpq turbos (his is BB) ,XFI 83#, 109s 234cube (i have JE he has wiseco) , k1 rods , on alky+ 93, ptc 18 , TAperf 3bolt race headers, through exhaust- atr dual 3" (he has turndowns), he has cottons FMIC i have a v1 , he has champion stock intake pte and powerplate , mine is stock intake egr removed mease plenum.
both roller cam 1.55 T+d rockers, std comp lifters(not limiteds) , he has 224 billet , i have FT 215/220
he has gn1 8bolt unported alum heads ,i have bowl cleaned irons (no where near the champions)

V8Killer is going with 3.23s with 28" tires on his ultra light T. It going to be a small cammed stock engine. The goal is to keep the rpms down and load the shit out of the turbo.
 
Thanks guys I'm definitely gonna try the 3:23s n if I don't like the results I can always go back to my 3:42. I liked how the car ran with the 3:42 & the 29 inch tire , so that's why I switched to the 3:23 n drop back down to a 28 inch tire. I hope it works out in my favor.
 
With the Th400 you might even consider a drop to a 3.08 set and the 27-28" tire to load the turbo up.
