Brake accumulator new or used?

I bought this accumulator bowl off of someone on this board. It was advertised as "new" purchased from Kirban's. There are wrench marks on the nut, crud inside the opening, paint peeling near the opening and grease left in crevices where it appeared to have been wiped clean. It is also a 2nd gen desing and not the 3rd gen design that Kirban currently sells. So is this how they come "new" from Kirban's or is someone trying to kill me selling me a used accumulator? I would never buy one of these used.

BTW, I did PM the seller before posting this.

I'd ask for my money back.
Definetely not NEW, and with crud in the opening it's not even close to NOS.
If any of that crud gets in the P/M itself, say good bye to your internal seals.

You are correct, that design hasn't been made in a few years now.
It may have been used for testing once or twice, but without actually hooking it up to a P/M and testing it, you will never know if it is good or not.
