I was curious what you guys thought of that oiling system that replaced the bottom part of the oil pump that I believe was sold by Duttweiler. It came with an oil pan as well for oil return to the pan. I bought a used from one of the board members here like ten years ago and did not use it. I'm doing an engine rebuild now and am thinking about it. What's the pros and cons. What happened to it ?

That is a great piece and has been used on many Stage and aluminum block builds as they have a built-in provision to supply oil externally to the front or rear of the block.

It could be used on a production block but the external plumbing and lines make it a nightmare?

You will also need many additions to the oil pan for the pick-up, in-line filter, remote filter and external lines, this becomes very expensive.

There is no advantage as we have built 1000 HP production blocks with stock-type cover and pump with no oiling issues.

Of course the production block will only last for a few runs at that level!
