Hey i know of a few but i think the fastest stock long block was 10.66 . I have been working on a car and we got it down to 10.69@124 it still has some gremlins so i think it might go a little quicker next time out . If you have times post them so we can compare thanks in advance Laz.

I thought Stangbanger went 10.66@126. That is the fastest I eve heard of. I have not seen him post in a while.

Good news. I just got your message, kids are in bed so I'll give ya a jingle tomorrow.

I do think Scott with the 10.66 is the fastest on a bone stock motor.

i went 6.80@101 in the 1/8th with the exact same combo as above. could have went further but a main cap decided to crack and the take out the whole engine......it made power but with a stock bottom end it's not reliable.

Hey Bob i looked at the link but i cant find that car maybe he can chime in cause i would find it very hard to get that mile an hour unless its a lock up then maybe .

The TE45a works fine on a stock long block as long as you have enough converter which IMHO is 3400+. It loves high boost! You need to run it up to be able to get air thru the (restrictive) stock heads.

Laz...that is impressive. Any discussion on the combo. Turbo, IC, injectors,
fuel management?

Wow thats a crazy ET and MPH for a stock motor, really imppressive. Jim when you say it loves high boost, how much boost and timming are we talking about here? What type of fuel are you using, and is there an alky mix in there? Opened exhaust or closed? How much does your car way with you inside? Sorry about all the questions but I'm so amazed.

Thanks,
Marco.

You mean your car came STOCK with those GN1's?!;)

Laz,

Congrats', that is an awesome run! What can you share regarding how this car is set up?
To the best of my knowledge, I thought Scott (stangbanger) C. had the factory bonestock, un-opened longblock record at 10.66@126. I ran in TSS that year with him in Bowling Green. Scotts car ran 10.7's all day long. His gn. is the real deal.
As you know ,my factory unopened longblock has gone 10.93@123.8 with a TA-49 turbo @a touch over 3500# wt.(w/driver). With the addition of a TA-62 turbo, it's running 10.80's with some fueling issues and should go 10.7's soon(now just shy of 3600# wt.).
But I must say, I wasn't aware of Jim H's run of 10.49 @almost 130mph. If that's true, I'm surprized I never heard of it ,also being from. S.E. Mich.( But then, I'm usually the last to hear alot of things! ) Those are outrageously fast numbers ! WOW !

Bob, can we get some more info on Jim's car? I believe all 3 cars 60footed closely( 1.50 ). The only way I could think these #'s were possible, would be if the car was light, maybe 3200-3300# w/driver. Subtract that wt. factor from Scott's run or Laz's run(car wt. 3500-3600# minus 200-300#) and their runs would equate to a high 10.4 run 128-129mph.....a much more "in-line" set of #'s .....or am I missing something? ....Either way, still an outstanding performance by all!

actually, im glad you brought that up, i had gn1's on the car at the time. 7.1@97 is the best i got before a HG went(30psi) i ran 27psi with the 6 sec runs w/heads. thanks for bringing that up sixgun.

Thats pretty impressive, what turbo are you using?

stangbanger was using a ta61 17 row stock location, 55# injectors, raptor maf
6.80 at 102.42
1.42 sixty foot heads and intake never off.

That pass was at 35psi

The timeslips in my signauture are at 27psi, i am running the ta61 and plan to get it into the 10s this march for a local shootout with the heads, intake and valve covers never been removed ( stock valve springs)

Plan to get 100 lbs off the car also.

Ok the car we are running has a rollbar we ran a full tank of gas so i would think its about 3600 with driver . The build up is 90.000 mile buick new timing chain by previous owner i replaced the valve spring to lt1s it had 64 pounds on the seat anyways, it got a garrett core front mount Precison 67 (6676h) p trim with 85 housing Ptc 9.5 nonlock convertor built rear with a hr anti roll bar double pumper homeade fast xfi 32 lbs of boost so far 1.48 60ft 4.31 330ft 6.75 660 ft 100.3 10.69@124.29 and a few 10.70s that night 70 degree weather

Tin man when you changed turbo did you gain any mph , and what housings were you using with the ta49 and ta62 ( .63 or .85)? Did you feel a big difference in turbo lag between turbos?

I went on your web sight to find out how much your cold air kit goes for but there was no price. I am going to an LS1 maf so I need a new air filter and I would like to know how much your kit goes for?

Thanks,
Marco.

Marco,

When I went from the TA-49 to the TA-62 I did not gain any mph.(Really thought I would.... but I did add about 85# to the car, so I may have gained about 1 mph ) At first I was having problems building boost off the line. A boost control valve took care of that problem.
On the 10 sec TA-49 runs, I was using a PTE .63 housing. When switching to the TA-62, I tried both the PTE .85 exh housing (car had worse numbers all the way around), and a Garret .63 housing which turbo came with.. The .63 worked much better and is what is still on the car now. I didn't see much lag difference between the 49 and 62 in street driveability. But I am running a 3200 stall 9-11 converter.
The Tinman Cold-air kits are $195.00 (can I say that here? if not, sorry!) including washable "velocity stack" Afe filter which will out-flow comparable K&N all day long. ( My "Standard" kit has gone 9.27 @147mph! and is equally at home in a "bone stock" Turbo Regal.
Sorry about the website. An upgrade is coming soon.Any other Tinman Performance Product questions can be answered @ tylkometal@prodigy.net.

That car hits it pretty good down low.

I was under the impression that a large turbo such as the 64 66 and larger was too big to run on a completely stock head(no port work) ?

Well, im sure with your setup, a tad more times to the track and it will surpass stangbangers 10.66 , and you have already passed Tim Stockwells runs

Keep us posted on how well it does in the near future.

What's everyone's opinion on how much the stock bottom end can handle without any detonation?
