My dad decided to put a new network in the house.... He put a Belkin box in, which is wireless and wired. (it is model F5D6231-4, if it matters). One computer is wireless and the other three are wired (why we have so many computers don't ask, three are for my dad's business and then there is my personnel computer). Now certian websites will not load.

I cannot check my email (yahoo), I can't post messages.. (I am posting from ao-hell) and I can't get to ebay. I can read forums, but I can't post.

These sites that I have found not to work, worked before we changed to this new network.

I called tech support twice; and this is what they told me:

1. Download this program:

http://www.bulldogdsl.com/support/online/tech.asp

I ran that that did nothing

2. This time she told me to do a hard restart (shut down all the computers, shutdown box, then shut down the modem. Wait ten minutes, plug the modem back in... then the box and press in and hold the reset button for a minute. Then start the computers and everything should be hunky dorey. Well, nothing worked.

So, since they don't seem to give me any good answers anyone here have any suggestions?

Thanks

A few things to try.

Windows NT&2000&XP

-1- go to run type cmd hit enter. Now type ipconfig/all >c:\ip.txt
-2- now open c:\ip.txt with notepad and post that information here.
-3- try to ping msn.com -- go to run type cmd then type ping msn.com and let me know if you get responses.

Windows 98&ME
-1- go to run type winipcfg and post that information here.
-2- try to ping msn.com -- go to run type command then type ping msn.com and let me know if you get responses.

What OS are you running? 2000 XP 98 ME?

Check to see what security settings you have set, your probably sharing the internet connection if so what is it, cable, dsl? check to see what firewall settings you have, and what is the error your recieving when you attempt to get certain pages?

You can go to this website for what to check on the firewall:

http://search.belkin.com/cgi-bin/Ms..._id=7210496&query=F5D62314*&hiword=F5D62314*+

Or here is the jist of it:
Check Firewall Configuration

Make sure that the SSL port (port 443) is open on your firewall (if you have any). There are several Firewalls, check with the manufacture of your firewall for specific instructions.
Note: The routers NAT firewall does not block outgoing requests. If you use the router as your firewall, no configuration is required.

Verify that Internet Explorer Is Using 128-Bit Encryption

To check:
1. In Internet Explorer, on the Help menu, click About Internet Explorer
2. The level of encryption on your computer appears next to the words Cipher Strength. Verify that the Cipher Strength value appears as 128-bit

If the Cipher Strength is anything less then 128-bit, download the Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack to your computer's hard disk, and then install it.

Delete Temporary Internet Files

There's also a possibility of some corrupted files in your Temporary Internet Files (TIF) storage. To clear these:

1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and select the General tab
2. Under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files, and click OK when you are prompted to confirm the deletion

Configure Internet Explorer Security, Content, and Advanced Settings

Configure Security settings for the Trusted sites zone in Internet Explorer:
1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and select the Security tab
2. Select Trusted sites, and then click Default Level
3. Add the secure Web site you are trying to access to the Trusted sites zone. To do so, click Sites, type the address (URL) of the site in the Add this Web site to the zone box, click Add, click OK, and then click Apply

Clear the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) slate and AutoComplete history:
1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and select the Content tab
2. Under Certificates, click Clear SSL State
3. Click OK when you receive the message that the SSL cache was successfully cleared
4. Under Personal information, click AutoComplete
5. Under Clear AutoComplete history, click Clear Forms. Click OK when you are prompted to confirm the operation.

Verify that Internet Explorer is configured to use SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0:
1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and select the Advanced tab
2. In the Settings box, under the Security header, click to select the Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0 check boxes (if they are not already selected), and then click OK

Verify that the Date and Time Settings on Your Computer Are Correct

Because SSL certificates have an expiry date, if the date on your computer isn't correct, it may prevent you from connecting to secure sites. To verify that your computer is configured with the correct date and time settings:
1. Click Start > click Control Panel
2. Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options, and then click Date and Time
3. Select the Date & Time tab
4. Check to make sure that the date and time settings are configured to use the current date and time, and then click OK

As a test, from the CMD prompt

ipconfig

Take your IP ADDRESS and give it to your dad - have him put it in the access point/firewall as the DMZ address. This essentially places you outside the firewall for most intents and purposes. Try it again and see if it works. If it does, we've proved the firewall is to blame and just have to figure out why.

Well, guys, I just went back and plugged my computer into a wire before the router... I will try some of this other stuff later because you kinda lost me... heh... I suck at the computer

If it works without the router in place then you know for sure the router is blocking the addresses. If you look at my previous response that is right from the manufactors website on how to fix it.
