I just have to make sure everything I do can be done with the dash in place. That's going to be the real trick.
 
Modern cars' ignition switches only send signal voltages, not carrying any current. I've been having thought on this as well, modifying the harness at the ignition switch with high current relays thus eliminating significant current flow through the switch itself.
