Thanks. I bit off more than I can chew doing this frame off by its going to be worth it when and if I ever finish lol

You'll get there! Make it a point to post a pic or three a week and I'm sure this crowd will help keep you motivated to keep on trucking! Great job so far!!

Have any pics of this complete? How far back did you go? And did you have to add any additional braces or gussets?

I welded a piece of tubing across the rear spring perches where the shocks bolt up. Also made a brace that bolts to the rear bumper shock mounts since I plan to eventually go to fiberglass bumpers.

Nice thanks! I was wondering how u managed that (first pic had body on it)! So you had my attention for sure.

Thanks.

I notched mine back to where the 2 pieces of frame meet. I plan on running 275 drag radials which fit with an uncut frame, but it's really tight with stock wheels.
Before you make your cuts, make sure you weld a temporary piece of angle somewhere behind the wheel arches. The frame will spring if you don't.

Would you happen to have a pic just like this with the gas tank in place? I'm going to weld inside the horns a tube going from the left to right just like your angle but inside. I've seen some on here that have done it but no finished pics. Just need to know how fats the tank goes forward

How thick was the tube you used? Is that just regular steel tubing

Sorry, I just saw this. I'll get you a pic hopefully tonight. Not sure of the thickness, but it is 1 3/4" mild steel tubing left over from an S&W roll bar kit.

. I went and bought some engine stands and made a rotisserie for the frame last night. Hopefully this weekend I can start reinforcing the frame

I started a YouTube channel called Pablo's Buick garage. It shows how I put the rear bracing in. If anyone is interested.

Looks good!!! Those factory welds are scary.
Don't make it too pretty- you'll never finish. (ask me how I know)

You asked.... LOL

I have 2 Beautiful, spectacular Turbo Buicks sitting in my garage. Affectionatly known as the garage art. They're so nice I hesitate to take them out. I'm paranoid when I do take them out. Long drives? Nope. Might get rock chips. Take the car out to grab a nice dinner? Nope. I need to have eyes on the car at all times. (Had one stolen years ago - so I'm ruined.) So they sit in a carpeted garage, under covers and come out now and again to move all the fluids around and then back into "storage".

I also have a 67 Pontiac that I have been "working" on since 2012 or thereabouts (It's been so long I don't even remember)- In an effort to make it perfect, I have over $20k into it and it's still in expoxy primer, no interior, no wiring and no engine installed... (AND it was pretty clean to being with)

On the other hand, we've had a few cars that were a little rough around the edges. One in particular was a turbo Buick and it was a blast. It had rust, terrible peeling paint job, sagging doors with rust, peeling window tint and dull rims. No one gave it a second look. It was PERFECT. It was a car we actually enjoyed to drive and could go anywhere with because we didn't care about the body and paint and no one would ever consider actually stealing it. I sold it and looking back, it was a huge mistake. My "garage queens" do not being me the joy that the rusty old "bucket" did. (AND yes, it was very quick. A sleeper of sorts- surprised a few people!)

Just a little food for thought.

Got a lil done this past weekend. Finally! After reinforcing the frame I was able to cut one side out. Now time to mock up and get it the 1/4 plate in.
Question for those of you that have notched out the rear. I cut along top and bottoms little divot where the frames meet and they welded. Have any of you notice that the bottom sits out more about 1/4”? What did you all do?

Are you putting a cage in this car or planning any hard launches?
