Tire's? What do you think?

I was looking for a set of tires for some new rims.

16X8 w/ 225-50 on the front
16X9.5 w/ 255-50 on the rear

What brand of tires should I look for in this size.

What do you think?

You'd be good with a 235s or 245s on 8" wide fronts. 225s might look a little narrow.

You could do the 255s on 8 or 9 inch rims, too. Cost savings.

I run Sumitomo HTRZ W rated (168 mph) 255 50 16s on the rear, pretty sticky for street tires, about $95 each from tire rack and Yokahama 225 60 16s on the front. My last set of fronts were on the car for 45,000 miles and still have plenty of tread. I just put new ones on. They cost $57 each.

Red Regal did you use 225 60 or 50 in the front. 60's make the front tires taller then the ones on the back don't they?

I agree with Turbo6inKY - you'll be happy with a 245 on the front. Make it a 245/45/16 if you are tight on clearance, or a 245/50/16 to make a ride with a little more cushion and a little less rake to the body angle. A 255/50/16 on an 8", or 275/45/16 on 9" in the back fills the wheelwell a bit better, I think. The BFG ZR is a great deal from the TireRack (www.tirerack.com).

I tried 3 other kinds of tires before I got the ZR's and I easily get the best traction and least spin with them. Chirps then digs in. Best time come from pressures around 20.

I used the 225 60s on the front. They are less than 1/2" taller. Believe me, you can't see it. They look the same height. Check my photos by clicking on the link in my signature. I don't like squatty fat tires on the front of my car. Maybe if I did road racing..........

DeltaT I wanted to keep the sidewall around 50 for the ride quality. 45's and lower thing start to get to harsh in my mind. How is the ride quality for those 45's and what is the width on the rim?
